Description
The longtail southern cod is a notothen (Nototheniidae) from the cold waters of the southwestern Atlantic around Patagonia and the Falklands. The species has an elongate body with a fairly long tail and is adapted to cold water. It lives near the bottom on the continental shelf and browses over the bottom. It feeds on small crustaceans, worms, small fishes and other bottom life. It is a commercial fish. The species is harmless to humans.
