Description
Oreochromis upembae is a tilapia-type cichlid occurring in the upper Congo (Lualaba) drainage and Lake Upemba in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The species has a deep, laterally compressed body and reaches about 21 cm. Like other Oreochromis species it is a maternal mouthbrooder: the female broods the eggs and young in her mouth and shelters them there.
