The Microsynodontis christyi is a freshwater fish of the family Mochokidae that grows up to 5 cm.
Description
Microsynodontis christyi is a very small African catfish of the family Mochokidae from the Congo basin in Central Africa. The species reaches only about 5 cm and has an elongate, brown mottled body with three pairs of barbels with which it probes the bottom in the dark. It is a nocturnal bottom dweller feeding on small bottom invertebrates and insect larvae. Like other mochokids it bears lockable pectoral and dorsal fin spines that can cause puncture wounds when handled. Owing to its small size the species is little studied.
