Fin’s Fish Guide is not in the app stores yet. On Android you can install it today. On iPhone and on your computer it runs in the browser, with the same species and the same identification.
Android
Install the app straight on your phone.
Installing, in three steps
- 1Tap the button. Your browser asks whether to keep the file: choose to download it.
- 2Open the file you just downloaded, from your notifications or from your Downloads folder.
- 3Android asks whether it may install apps from this source. Allow it, then tap Install.
Android shows a warning because the app does not come from the Play Store. That is normal for an app that is not published there yet. The file comes from us and carries our own signature.
iPhone and iPad
Put Fin on your home screen and he opens like an app.
Adding, in three steps
- 1Open Fin in Safari with the button above. This only works in Safari, not in Chrome.
- 2Tap the share button at the bottom of the screen, the square with the arrow pointing up.
- 3Choose "Add to Home Screen" and tap Add. Fin now sits between your other apps.
Apple only allows apps from the App Store, so there is no file to download for iPhone. This gives you the same thing: your own icon, full screen, no browser bar. Your logbook and your lists are kept, just like in the Android app.

Fin works on your computer too. Nothing to install, everything in one place: 12,519 species, the map and your logbook.
Updates
The app lets you know when there is a new version. You come back to this page, download the newest file and install it over the old one. Your logbook and your lists stay exactly as they are.
