Description
The Thys' mountain carp is an African mountain carp (Kneriidae) from fast-flowing, clear mountain streams and rivers of the mountain streams of Central Africa. The species grows to about 8 cm and has a slender, streamlined, grey-brown body with an inferior mouth. As a bottom-dweller of oxygen-rich water it clings among gravel and stones and grazes on algae, biofilm and small invertebrates. The fish is harmless to humans.
