Description
The smalleye viviparous brotula is a viviparous brotula (Bythitidae) from shallow coral-reef and crevice water of the Indo-West Pacific. The species grows to about 6 cm and has a slender, pale body with long, confluent dorsal and anal fins and small eyes. As a hidden bottom-dweller it shelters deep in coral crevices and cavities and snaps at small crustaceans. The female gives birth to live young. The fish is harmless to humans.
