Description

The fivebar shrimpgoby is a goby (Gobiidae) from shallow sand and coral-rubble water of the western Pacific. The species grows to about 6 cm and has a slender, white body with five dark crossbars. It lives in symbiosis with a digging shrimp: the shrimp maintains a shared burrow and the goby stands guard and warns of danger. It snaps at passing plankton. The fish is harmless to humans.
