Description
Krieg's tetra is a small South American characin (Characidae) from fresh water of the Paraguay and Parana basins. The species grows to about 4 cm and has a slender, silvery, translucent body; spawning males develop a milky dorsal fin and yellowish tints. As a schooling fish it swims in quiet, plant-rich waters and snaps at small zooplankton, algae and insect larvae. The fish is harmless to humans.
