Description

The honeycomb rockfish is a rockfish (Sebastidae) from the northeastern Pacific. The species has a stocky, red-brown body with a honeycomb-like pattern of pale scale edges and a few pale saddle blotches. It lives on or near the bottom of rocky areas, usually shallower than seventy metres. Like other rockfishes it is livebearing. As a bottom hunter it feeds on small crustaceans and other invertebrates. The fin spines are venomous; a sting is painful.
