Description

The yellowtail blue snapper is a snapper (Lutjanidae) from the Indo-Pacific. The species grows to about 50 cm and has a streamlined, blue-grey body with a yellow back and a yellow tail, making it resemble a fusilier. As a fast, schooling fish it hovers in open water above coral reef slopes and picks zooplankton from the current. It is a food fish. The fish is harmless to humans.
