Description

The cichlid is a cichlid endemic to Lake Tanganyika in East Africa. The species has an elongate body with fleshy lips. It keeps deep along the rocky slope, tucked into crevices and cavities. As an ambush hunter it takes small fishes and bottom invertebrates. As a cichlid it is a caring brood-tender that protects the young after hatching. The species is harmless to humans.
