Description
The twospot dwarf cichlid is a small cichlid from fresh water of the Guianas in northern South America. The species grows to about 5 cm and has a stocky body that gleams metallic green to yellow-brown, with a few dark spots on the flank. As a bottom-dweller it lives in clear, plant-rich streams and eats small invertebrates, larvae and detritus. It is an attentive parental brooder. The fish is harmless to humans and is known from the aquarium trade.
