Description

The oblique-lined anthias is an anthias (Serranidae) from deeper reef and rocky water of the western Indian Ocean and Red Sea. The species grows to about 15 cm and has a stocky, red-pink to yellow body with fine lines on the head. As a day-active fish it hovers in small groups above deeper coral and rock slopes and snaps at zooplankton in the current. Like many anthias a female can change sex. The fish is harmless to humans.
