Description

Chalinochromis brichardi is a cichlid endemic to Lake Tanganyika in East Africa. The species has a creamy-white to yellowish body with dark striping on the head and reaches about 12 cm. It inhabits rubble along the shore, where it builds a nest and feeds on invertebrates living in the biofilm on the rocks. The species is a substrate brooder and less shy than many related rock-dwelling cichlids. Its attractive markings make it popular with advanced aquarists.
