Description

Boulenger's sand gudgeon is a small cyprinid (Gobionidae) from fresh water of the Yangtze basin in China. The species grows to about 14 cm and has an elongate body with an inferior mouth, barbels and fringe-like lip folds, adapted to life on the bottom of fast-flowing rivers. It searches sand and gravel bottoms for small invertebrates and detritus. The fish is harmless to humans.
