Description
The Rosa labeo carp is a cyprinid (Cyprinidae) from large rivers and lakes of southern China in East Asia. The species grows to about 40 cm and has a deep, powerful, silvery to reddish body with large scales and barbels around the mouth. As a bottom-oriented fish it roots over sand and mud and snaps at molluscs, insect larvae, plant matter and detritus. It is a valued but threatened food fish. The fish is harmless to humans.
