The paletail damsel is a small reef fish (Pomacentridae) from the western Pacific. The species grows to about 11 cm and has a brown-grey body that becomes pale to whitish towards the rear and tail. As a reef-dweller it lives above coral-rich slopes and rubble bottoms and eats zooplankton and algae. The fish is harmless to humans.
