Description

The Taiwan minnow is a small cyprinid (Cyprinidae) from fresh water of Taiwan in East Asia. The species grows to about 8 cm and has a slender, silvery body with a dark longitudinal stripe and a slightly superior mouth. As a social schooling fish it swims in calm parts of clear streams and ponds and snaps at small zooplankton, insects and algae. The species is threatened by habitat loss. The fish is harmless to humans.
