Description
The bare sarcastic fringehead is a blenny-like fish (Chaenopsidae) from coastal waters of the northwest Pacific, off East Asia. The species grows to about 5 cm and has an elongate body and a large, widely gaping mouth. As a territorial bottom-dweller it inhabits empty shells, holes and crevices of shallow coastal water and defends them against intruders with its widely flared jaws. It snaps at small invertebrates. The fish is harmless to humans.
