The Leatherjacket (Melichthys vidua) is a saltwater fish of the family Balistidae that grows up to 40 cm.
Description
The pinktail triggerfish is a triggerfish (Balistidae) from the Indo-West Pacific. The species has a dark-green to blackish body with white to pinkish dorsal and anal fins and a conspicuous pink to white tail, to which the name refers. It inhabits seaward reefs to deeper than 60 m with rich invertebrate growth. Unlike many large triggerfishes it is fairly peaceful: it feeds on algae, detritus, sponges, coral and small invertebrates. With its dorsal spine it can lock itself into a crevice. The species is harmless to humans.
