Description
The ocellated mangrove killifish is a small killifish (Rivulidae) from fresh and brackish water of mangroves and coastal pools in southeastern Brazil. The species grows to about 6 cm and has an elongate, brownish body with a dark eyespot near the tail base. It tolerates strongly fluctuating conditions and can survive briefly out of water. Relatives of this genus are known for self-fertilising hermaphroditism. It eats small invertebrates. The fish is harmless to humans.
