Description

The Marquesan dascyllus is a reef fish (Pomacentridae) endemic to the waters around the Marquesas Islands in the Pacific. The species grows to about 9 cm and has a deep, greyish body that becomes paler towards the tail. As a reef-dweller it lives in groups above coral heads and picks zooplankton and algae. When threatened the group dives among the coral branches. The fish is harmless to humans.
