Description
The Taiwan torrent minnow is a cyprinid (Cyprinidae) endemic to fast-flowing mountain streams of Taiwan. The species grows to about 15 cm and has a slender, silvery body with a dark longitudinal band; courting males colour more intensely with orange accents. As an active swimmer it lives in clear, oxygen-rich water and hunts insects, larvae and small invertebrates. The fish is harmless to humans.
