Description

The Glass tetra is a characin (Iguanodectidae) from fresh water of the Amazon and Orinoco basins in South America. The species grows to about 15 cm and has a slender, silvery, streamlined body. As an open-water schooling fish it swims in clear rivers and streams and eats insects, small invertebrates and plant material. The fish is harmless to humans.
